Civil engineers build the world's infrastructure. In doing so, they quietly shape the history of nations around the world. Most people can not imagine life without the many contributions of civil engineers to the public's health, safety and standard of living. Only by exploring civil engineering's influence in shaping the world we know today, can we creatively envision the progress of our tomorrows.

To prepare our graduates to have professional career in:

• Basic Infrastructure Construction & Maintenance Industry like Buildings, Complexes & Multiplexes, Roads & Bridges, Railways, Docks & Harbours, Airports, Irrigation Structures, Water supply & Sanitary systems etc
• Specialized fields of Foundation constructions, Water & Air pollution and control, Water resource management, Quality Control Management, Remote sensing and Geo-graphic Information Systems.
• Interdisciplinary fields like Software development, GIS and Remote Sensing Systems development, Information System development etc.

Salient features:

 The department provides avenues for the student to qualify himself/herself as a good civil engineer. Besides imparting classroom training, the department has the policy of arranging technical visits to give exposure to the practical field. Students are encouraged to do projects in industries to acquaint them with practical problems.

Core subjects

The course structure is updated regularly to enable the students to understand the new trends in infrastructure development. It includes survey, analysis and design of steel and concrete structures, prestressed concreting, remotesensing and geographic information system,geotechnical engineering,hydraulics,water resources,environmental engineering and intelligent transportation system.
